Iroquois Overpowers Japan in 27-9 Victory |
July 4, 2008 |
|
COQUITLAM, B.C. - Iroquois followed up their strong game against the Americans yesterday with a convincing 27-9 win
today against Japan at the 2008 ILF U-19 Men's Lacrosse World Championships July 4 at Percy Perry Stadium.
Emmett Printup scored eight goals for Iroquois to lead the team. He now has ten goals in two games so far in the
tournament. Miles Thomas had an impressive game as well by recording five goals for Iroquois. Peter Jacobs tallied
four goals and Elihja Printup, cousin of Emmett, notched three.
Iroquois led the game 14-3 at the half after a ten goal first period. They scored the first nine goals of the game
before Japan responded with a pair of goals to end the first period 10-2. The pace of the game seemed to slow down
dramatically after the explosive start by Team Iroquois.
Yohei Nagashima had an impressive game in the losing effort for Japan by recording five goals before being taken out
of the game after being cross checked in the final minutes of the game.
Japan plays their next game on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. against Team USA while Iroquois will face off against Canada at
12:45. Both games will be played at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam. For ticket info please check out the
